I’d say that sure, using Quicktime encoded H.264 video is fast…. if its coming off their servers for apple trailers but try loading your basic 2 minute video from your iPhone 3G or iPod touch and its slow as.

Dont get me wrong, I’ve drunk the coolaid, I love apple products but I dont believe that a format as widely used as flash for not only video but in the construction and development of some of the greatest websites around, should be kept from a product that is as widely used as iPhones and iPods.

Im curious to hear from you all about where you think video is going and whether flash should be kept as the medium or quicktime, and more so, why?

My goal on these blogs is to become the know it all/ go to guy for online video streaming and content.

Ive been searching the internet for a whole bunch of ways to stream video, not so much for personal use but for professional usage.

Now, we all know about the biggest guns in the online video world, YouTube, who are a fantastic network and community. You’ve got the close contender behind them, Vimeo, who are seriously an incredible provider of streaming. Theres problems with both of these sites though:

a) Vimeo can only be used for personal use, not to sell or promote a brand or product, and
b) Using YouTube on the primary website of a company can look unprofessional, however, cost effective.

If your company has the budget, then theres the obvious and best known choice… Viocorp. They are great, but not great if you’re in the small to medium enterprise scale of business.

Im curious to hear from other people and to generally discuss cost effective ways of streaming video for professional use.
